Special teams played their part as well; Memphis' kicker successfully converted all extra point attempts and nailed a field goal from just inside fifty yards out. Additionally, kickoffs covered substantial ground totaling nearly five hundred yards with one touchback recorded.


Defensively, Memphis managed to apply pressure on their opponents by recording sacks and tackles for loss which contributed to limiting Arkansas State's scoring opportunities during crucial moments in the game. A forced fumble by Memphis' defense was recovered by their own team which helped swing momentum in favor of the home side.
