Memphis Tigers' Defensive Dominance

The defense was undoubtedly the cornerstone of success for the Memphis Tigers. With a total of four sacks and nine tackles for loss that amounted to 33 yards lost for the Seminoles, the defensive line proved too much for Florida State's offense. Chandler Martin stood out with five tackles and one sack contributing significantly to his team's efforts by also recovering a fumble. Vic Alobwede made his presence felt as well with 1.5 sacks and two quarterback hits, showcasing why he is considered one of the key components in this formidable defense.

Tahj Ra-El’s interception was another highlight moment that underscored just how relentless Memphis was on defense. The team not only managed to apply pressure but also effectively limited any attempts by Florida State to gain momentum.

Offensive Highlights and Special Teams

On offense, Seth Henigan led from behind center completing 25 out of 38 attempts for 272 yards and throwing two touchdowns against one interception. His performance was pivotal in keeping drives alive and ensuring that Memphis capitalized on scoring opportunities when they presented themselves.

Special teams also played their part efficiently; Caden Costa successfully converted two field goals from three attempts with his longest being from 35 yards out. Joshua Sloan’s punting game helped control field position effectively as he averaged over 41 yards across four punts.

Looking Ahead

The next challenge awaiting the Memphis Tigers will be against Navy Midshipmen at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis on September 21st, scheduled for a kickoff time of 3:30 PM EDT.
