Memphis Tigers: A Closer Look at Their Winning Formula

The game's outcome was significantly influenced by the Memphis Tigers' effective ground attack and defensive resilience. Mario Anderson Jr., a standout running back for Memphis, rushed for an impressive 144 yards on 25 attempts, scoring one touchdown. His performance was pivotal in establishing the run game for Memphis, contributing to their total rushing yardage of 207 on 41 attempts. Another notable contribution came from Brandon Thomas who also found the end zone once and added 26 yards on six carries.

On special teams, Tristian Vandenberg made his presence felt by successfully converting two field goals with his longest being from 42 yards out, contributing crucial points to secure the win for Memphis. The kicking game was flawless with Vandenberg also ensuring touchbacks on all six kickoff attempts.

Defensively, while not recording any sacks or interceptions against Rice Owls’ offense, Memphis showed discipline by limiting their opponents’ scoring opportunities and recovering one fumble thanks to linebacker Chandler Martin’s efforts.

Rice Owls: Efforts in Vain

The Rice Owls displayed commendable determination throughout the match but struggled against a stout Memphis defense. Their efforts were highlighted in moments such as securing an early lead in the first quarter but failing to maintain momentum against persistent opposition from Memphis.
