In Arlington's AT&T Stadium, the Hurricanes faced an uphill battle from the onset. The first quarter saw them put up three points against the Tigers' ten. Despite efforts to rally, Miami (FL) was unable to score in the second quarter while LSU extended their lead by seventeen points. The third quarter continued in favor of LSU with six additional points before the Hurricanes managed to find some form during the fourth quarter, scoring fourteen points.

The offensive unit for Miami (FL) had moments of effectiveness but struggled with consistency throughout the game. Quarterback play yielded one touchdown pass and a total passing yardage of two hundred fifty-nine on fifteen completions out of thirty-five attempts; however, this effort was marred by two interceptions and four sacks allowed. The longest pass completed was fifty yards which did not result in a touchdown as it fell short at thirty-two yards for their longest scoring play through air.

On ground, rushing proved challenging for Miami (FL), managing only eighty-three yards across thirty-four attempts which translates into an average gain per rush attempt under three yards. They did secure one rushing touchdown from within red zone territory that spanned just three yards.

Special teams contributed with mixed results; while they successfully converted both extra point attempts and made one field goal from within thirty-nine yards, they also missed another field goal attempt from beyond forty-nine yards leaving them with a fifty percent success rate on field goals.

Penalties were an issue for Miami (FL), accumulating eleven penalties amounting to eighty-five penalty yards which hindered their progress on several occasions throughout this contest.

Looking ahead after this setback, fans can mark their calendars as Miami (FL) Hurricanes will host Savannah State Tigers at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on September 8th at 6:00 PM local time. This game will be available for viewing on ESPN3 network where fans can tune in to support their team as they seek redemption following this opening game defeat.
