The game was marked by an impressive performance from the Michigan State offense, which accumulated a total of 496 yards. The rushing attack was particularly effective, contributing 260 yards to the tally with an average of over five yards per carry. Six rushing touchdowns were recorded, underscoring the ground game's success against the Zips' defense.

Michigan State's passing game also made significant contributions with quarterback throwing for 236 yards and achieving a completion percentage of approximately 64 percent. Despite two interceptions, one touchdown pass was completed with a longest throw covering 23 yards.

Defensively, Michigan State was just as formidable. The defensive unit sacked Akron's quarterback five times for a loss of 42 yards and forced five fumbles throughout the game—recovering four of them and adding another layer to their defensive success.

Special teams played their role efficiently as well; all seven extra point attempts were successful following touchdowns and one field goal attempt from within forty-nine yards sailed through uprights for additional points.

The efficiency on critical downs was notable too; Michigan State converted over sixty-one percent on third down attempts and achieved perfect conversion rates in both red zone (100 percent) and goal-to-go situations (100 percent).

The attendance at Spartan Stadium witnessed an overwhelming home team performance that left little room for Akron to maneuver or counteract—the Zips did not score throughout all four quarters.

Looking ahead, fans can anticipate watching their team take on Washington Huskies at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium in Seattle on September 17th. This upcoming game is scheduled for broadcast on ABC network at approximately 6:30 PM Eastern Time—a chance for fans to see if Michigan State can continue its momentum into future contests.
