The Spartans demonstrated their prowess on both sides of the ball throughout the contest. Quarterback Aidan Chiles was instrumental in Michigan State's success, throwing for an impressive 363 yards with a completion rate of 62 percent and adding three touchdowns to his name despite being intercepted three times. His efforts were characterized by an efficient average of nine yards per attempt and included a standout touchdown pass that covered 77 yards.

Nick Marsh emerged as Chiles' primary weapon on offense, hauling in eight receptions for a staggering 194 yards and one touchdown. His performance was punctuated by his longest reception which doubled as the team's most significant scoring play. Jaron Glover also made notable contributions with six catches for 84 yards and one touchdown.

The ground game provided Michigan State with another dimension offensively, led by Nate Carter who amassed 59 yards across eleven carries. Kay'Ron Lynch-Adams offered valuable support by contributing another 46 yards from ten attempts.

Defensively, Michigan State stood firm against Maryland's advances, particularly shining in the third quarter where they limited their opponents to just three points while applying consistent pressure throughout the game. Khris Bogle was a standout performer on defense, notching one sack and making key plays that resulted in nine lost yards for Maryland.

The special teams unit had its moments too; Jonathan Kim successfully converted two field goals including one from fifty yards out which played a critical role in securing their slim margin of victory.
