At Notre Dame Stadium, the Michigan Wolverines were unable to secure victory against their hosts. Despite a valiant effort that included a total of 275 yards gained and an average gain of nearly four yards per play, they fell short by seven points. The Wolverines' defense managed two sacks and six tackles for loss while also securing one interception which they returned for 19 yards.

Michigan's offense saw their quarterback sacked three times but still managed to complete two-thirds of his passes for a total of 249 passing yards. However, no passing touchdowns were recorded. The rushing attack struggled with an average of less than two yards per carry over 33 attempts but did manage to cross into the end zone once on a short three-yard touchdown run.

Special teams had moments of brilliance as well; notably, one kickoff was returned for an impressive 99-yard touchdown. Their field goal unit was perfect on the day with their lone attempt from within the range of twenty-nine yards finding its mark.

Penalties could have been problematic as seven flags were thrown against them resulting in fifty-two penalty yards assessed; however, this did not breach the threshold that would make it significant enough to dwell upon further.

Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for when the Michigan Wolverines will take on Western Michigan Broncos at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. This upcoming game is scheduled for September 8th at noon local time and will be broadcasted on Fox Sports 1 satellite channel number two hundred nineteen. Fans are encouraged to attend or tune in as their team looks to bounce back from this initial setback and secure their first win of the season.
