The game saw the New Mexico Lobos put up a valiant effort on their home turf. The offense accumulated a total of 401 yards, with an average gain of 5.6 yards per play across their 71 plays. The passing game contributed significantly to this yardage, as they threw for 247 yards and one touchdown without conceding any interceptions. Their completion percentage was just over half at approximately 51 percent with an average of over six yards per attempt.

On the ground, the Lobos' rushing attack was persistent, churning out 154 yards on 32 attempts and scoring one touchdown. They averaged close to five yards per carry despite losing yardage four times throughout the game. In terms of ball security, however, they lost one fumble during play.

Special teams had mixed results; while kickoffs traveled for a total of 257 yards resulting in two touchbacks from four attempts, field goal execution was split down the middle with one made and one missed from two attempts.

The red zone efficiency stood out as a positive aspect for the home team; they converted three out of five opportunities into scores and were perfect in goal-to-go situations across three tries. Third-down conversions were successful half of the time from twelve attempts which kept drives alive on several occasions.

Despite these efforts by New Mexico's offense and special teams units, penalties did have an impact on their performance with seven infractions costing them fifty-five penalty yards throughout the course of action.

Looking ahead after this tough loss at home against their state rivals from Las Cruces, fans can mark their calendars for when The New Mexico Lobos will face off against UMass Minutemen at Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Amherst on September twenty-third at seven thirty PM Eastern Time (ET). This upcoming encounter will be available for viewing on ESPN+.
