The game at University Stadium in Albuquerque saw the New Mexico Lobos take control early on, ending the first quarter ahead with 14 points to Hawai'i's seven. Maintaining their momentum, they matched this performance in the second quarter, keeping a steady lead of seven points. The third quarter was less fruitful for Hawai'i as they failed to score, while New Mexico added another seven points to their tally. In the final quarter, both teams scored seven points each; however, it was too late for Hawai'i to close the gap.

The New Mexico offense was relentless throughout the game. They amassed an impressive total of 429 yards with an average gain of six yards per play from their 64 plays. Their rushing attack contributed significantly with 227 yards and three touchdowns; one rush broke free for an outstanding distance of 33 yards into the end zone. The passing game also proved effective as it accounted for three touchdowns and completed passes that moved chains for eleven first downs.

Defensively, New Mexico showcased its ability by sacking Hawai'i's quarterback twice and intercepting three passes which were returned for five yards combined. Furthermore, they forced two fumbles and recovered one themselves—highlighting their defensive pressure throughout four quarters.

Special teams played cleanly without any blocked punts or returns for touchdowns but managed two punts inside Hawaii's twenty-yard line contributing positively to field position battles.

Penalties did mar some aspects of play; ten flags were thrown against them resulting in a loss of one hundred ten penalty yards which is something that will likely be addressed before their next outing.

Looking ahead after this comprehensive home win against Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors, fans can anticipate seeing how well-prepared New Mexico Lobos will be when they face off against Nevada Wolf Pack at Mackay Stadium in Reno on October 28th at 7:30 PM local time (MDT). This upcoming game can be watched live on CBS Sports Network satellite channel two hundred twenty-one.
