Game Highlights

The game was marked by significant contributions from key Lobos players. Quarterback Devon Dampier showcased his arm strength and accuracy, throwing for 338 yards with a completion rate of 62 percent and adding one touchdown pass. However, his performance was marred by two interceptions that proved costly.

On the ground, running back Javen Jacobs found some success against a tough Bulldogs defense, rushing for 41 yards on seven carries and scoring one touchdown. His longest run of the night went for 19 yards, highlighting his explosive potential.

Wide receiver Luke Wysong emerged as Dampier's favorite target in this contest. Wysong racked up an impressive 126 receiving yards on ten receptions but was kept out of the end zone by Fresno State's secondary.

Despite these individual performances, penalties were a significant issue for New Mexico throughout the game. The team was penalized 17 times for a total loss of 128 yards which hindered several drives and contributed to their inability to maintain momentum.

Defensive Standouts

On defense, linebacker Dimitri Johnson made his presence felt by recording one sack and contributing to three tackles for loss that totaled four lost yards for Fresno State. This defensive effort highlighted Johnson's ability to disrupt plays in the backfield but wasn't enough to slow down Fresno State's offense significantly.

Special teams also had moments worth noting; kicker Luke Drzewiecki converted both field goal attempts with his longest being from 32 yards out. These successful kicks added crucial points but ultimately did not tip the scale in favor of New Mexico.
