The Tar Heels entered Bank of America Stadium with high hopes but were met with resistance from a formidable Mountaineers defense. Despite their efforts, North Carolina could not overcome the home team's advantage. The Tar Heels' offense managed to accumulate a total of 339 yards throughout the game, with their passing game contributing 199 yards to this tally. The ground game added another 140 yards but failed to reach the end zone.

North Carolina's quarterback had a completion percentage of 67 percent on his passing attempts and threw for one touchdown. However, he was also under constant pressure, resulting in seven sacks and two interceptions by the Mountaineers' defense. One bright spot was North Carolina's punting unit which averaged 40 yards across four attempts and successfully pinned West Virginia inside their own 20-yard line twice.

On special teams, all three kickoffs by North Carolina resulted in touchbacks, showcasing strong leg power and precision. Their field goal unit was perfect on the day as well; they made their only attempt from within the range of twenty-nine yards.

Defensively, North Carolina managed to record one sack and forced one fumble which they recovered themselves – an effort that showed resilience despite being on the back foot for much of the game. They also held firm on third down conversions allowing only forty percent success rate but struggled more significantly when defending fourth downs where they conceded thirty-three percent success rate to West Virginia.

Penalties were another area where discipline cost them dearly; eight penalties resulted in sixty penalty yards given away and two first downs for West Virginia due to these infractions.

As fans look ahead after this tough outing against West Virginia Mountaineers at Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium, they can tune into future broadcasts featuring University of North Carolina sports teams as they continue their athletic endeavors next season.
