In an intense battle at Memorial Stadium, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish displayed a commendable effort against their opponents. Special teams contributed solidly as well with field goal kickers achieving perfection on all three attempts made during this contest – their longest successful kick being from an impressive distance of 43 yards. Kickoff returns were limited but efficient; one return went for as long as 26 yards.


Defensively, Notre Dame showcased resilience by recording seven tackles for loss and sacking Clemson's quarterback once for an eleven-yard loss. They also forced one fumble during play which they successfully recovered.


Penalties were relatively low with only five infractions costing them forty penalty yards in total – showcasing discipline under pressure.
