Clash of Mississippi Rivals: Ole Miss Rebels vs Mississippi State Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium

As the Ole Miss Rebels gear up to face their in-state rivals, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, at Davis Wade Stadium, fans are bracing for what promises to be an electrifying encounter. The Rebels have shown a mix of promise and concern in their recent outings that could influence their performance on November 24th.

In their last game on November 19th against Texas A&M Aggies at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the Rebels displayed a fighting spirit but ultimately fell short with a final score of 24-31. Despite accumulating a total of 361 yards and averaging nearly five yards per play, turnovers proved costly for MIS. With two turnovers including one lost fumble and an interception, ball security has emerged as an area needing immediate attention before they step onto Scott Field.

The rushing attack was solid with an average gain of over five yards per carry contributing to more than half of the team's total yardage. However, penalties were another Achilles' heel for MIS as they racked up 102 penalty yards through thirteen infractions which undoubtedly hindered their momentum.

Looking back further to November 11th against Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns, there was much to admire about MIS's offensive prowess. They put up a staggering fifty points with over six hundred total yards from offense. Their quarterback exhibited surgical precision with a completion rate above seventy-seven percent and three passing touchdowns without any interceptions – showcasing what this team is capable when firing on all cylinders.

Defensively though, there are concerns despite some bright spots like forcing turnovers and recording sacks against Kentucky Wildcats on November 4th where they edged out a victory by three points. The defense will need to replicate that aggressive playmaking ability if they hope to contain MSST's offense.

The upcoming game poses both challenge and opportunity for MIS; it’s not just about state bragging rights but also proving consistency in performance can be achieved week-to-week. Fans should expect MIS coaches to have emphasized discipline in practice sessions leading up to this game – reducing penalties will be crucial along with maintaining possession through secure ball handling.

With kickoff scheduled for late evening under the lights at Davis Wade Stadium on November 24th, fans can catch all the action live on ESPN satellite channel 206 or join fellow supporters in Starkville for what is sure not only be an intense matchup but also one filled with deep-rooted rivalry passion.
