Clash at Michie Stadium: Rice Owls Prepare for Battle Against Army Black Knights in Football Showdown

As the Rice Owls gear up to face the Army Black Knights at Michie Stadium, fans are cautiously optimistic about their team's chances. The upcoming game on August 30th promises to be a challenging one for the Owls, but there's reason to believe that they can emerge victorious.

Looking back at their previous games, it's clear that the Owls have shown moments of brilliance. On November 24th, 2018, they secured a solid victory over Old Dominion with a score of 27-13. Their ground game was particularly impressive as they rushed for an average of over six yards per carry and scored four touchdowns. This kind of rushing dominance could be key against an Army team known for its own potent ground attack.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing in past performances. The game against LSU Tigers on November 18th saw the Owls struggle offensively, managing only ten points against a formidable defense while giving up forty-two points. Yet even in defeat, there were positives; despite being under constant pressure and taking four sacks, Rice's passing attack managed an average gain per play that was not far behind their rushing efforts.

The encounter with Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on November 11th also ended in a loss (28-13), but again showcased potential within the Owl ranks. They amassed over three hundred total yards and demonstrated resilience by not turning over the ball despite three interceptions.

What stands out from these games is Rice's ability to adapt and find ways to score even when faced with tough opposition defenses. If they can maintain possession and capitalize on scoring opportunities as they did against Old Dominion – especially in red zone situations where they've been highly efficient – then there is hope yet for this underdog team.

Defensively speaking, creating turnovers will be crucial if R.O.'s are going to slow down A.B.K.'s offense; something that was effectively done against Louisiana Tech with two interceptions returned for sixty-two yards.

The upcoming game will undoubtedly test R.O.'s mettle; however, if history has taught us anything it’s that this team should not be underestimated. With strategic play-calling and disciplined execution on both sides of the ball – coupled with leveraging their proven red zone efficiency – R.O.’s could very well upset A.B.K.’s plans at home turf.

Fans eager to support R.O.’s can catch them live on August 30th at Michie Stadium or tune into CBS Sports Network satellite channel 221 at 6:00 PM Eastern Time as these two teams clash in what promises to be an exciting football matchup.
