The home team, Rice Owls, despite showing promise in certain aspects of their gameplay, could not keep up with the relentless offense of the Texas State Bobcats. The Owls' defense managed to sack the opposing quarterback twice for a loss of 20 yards and recorded eight tackles for loss totaling 32 yards. However, this defensive effort was overshadowed by five interceptions thrown by their offense.

On special teams, Rice's punting unit worked hard throughout the game with six attempts totaling 221 yards and an average distance per punt standing at 37 yards; one punt was placed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. In terms of kickoffs, they had five for a total of 329 yards and managed to land two within the end zone resulting in touchbacks.

Offensively, passing proved difficult for Rice as they completed only half of their attempts for an average gain per pass play that amounted to four yards. Their longest pass completion was just shy of two dozen yards. The running game showed more effectiveness with two touchdowns scored on ground plays including one impressive long run that spanned over a quarter hundred yards.

Rice's red zone efficiency was impeccable with both attempts resulting in touchdowns; however, third-down conversions were successful only three out of eleven times which hindered sustained drives and scoring opportunities.

The attendance at Gerald J. Ford Stadium witnessed some bright spots from Rice such as receiving corps catching passes for an average gain close to ten yards per reception and securing eight first downs through air attacks.

As fans look forward to future games hoping for better outcomes from their beloved team, they can tune into upcoming broadcasts featuring Rice Owls as they continue striving towards victory on field.
