The game at Rice Stadium saw the home team, the Rice Owls, put up a resilient defense with five sacks and one interception. The defense also forced two fumbles during the course of play. On offense, despite their efforts, they were unable to secure more than one touchdown which came from their rushing efforts that totaled 100 yards over 41 attempts. The longest rush was a notable effort of 20 yards.

The passing game for the Owls yielded mixed results with an overall completion percentage of approximately 59 percent from 27 attempts resulting in a total of 148 passing yards. However, they were hindered by an interception and two sacks during these attempts. Their efficiency in critical situations was evident as they converted half of their redzone opportunities into scores.

Special teams had moments worth mentioning as well; all kickoffs by the Owls ended in touchbacks and their punting unit managed to place three punts inside the opponent's twenty-yard line out of six attempts.

On the other side, Florida International's performance was marked by scoring ten points in the second quarter which proved decisive given that neither team scored in fourth quarter. They managed to maintain their lead throughout second half despite only adding three more points after halftime break.

As for penalties, both teams played a disciplined game with each committing four penalties totaling thirty yards against them respectively.

Looking ahead, fans can anticipate watching next game where Rice Owls will be visiting Pittsburgh Panthers at Acrisure Stadium on September 30th at noon Eastern Time. This encounter will be broadcasted on ESPN CE for those who wish to follow along live.
