Rice Owls Navigate Through Navy Midshipmen's Defense for a Commanding Victory

In a week 10 showdown, the Rice Owls improved their season record to 3-6 by securing a 24-10 victory over the Navy Midshipmen, who now stand at 6-2. The game, held at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas, saw the home team take advantage of their opportunities to outscore their opponents and claim the win.

The Owls' offense was on full display as they amassed a total of 344 yards against the Midshipmen. Quarterback E.J. Warner played a pivotal role in this offensive surge, completing 28 out of 40 attempts for 239 yards. Warner's performance was highlighted by a touchdown pass and an impressive completion rate of 70 percent. On the ground, Dean Connors led with an outstanding effort, rushing for 105 yards on 18 carries and finding the end zone twice.


The receiving corps also made significant contributions to Rice's victory. Matt Sykes emerged as Warner's favorite target, racking up 93 receiving yards on eight catches and scoring one touchdown. His longest reception went for 21 yards, showcasing his ability to make big plays when needed.


On defense, Rice showed resilience by limiting Navy to just ten points throughout the game. Michael Daley stood out with two tackles and one sack that resulted in a loss of two yards for Navy while also forcing a fumble that turned momentum in favor of Rice. Tyson Flowers and Gabriel Taylor each intercepted passes from Navy's quarterback which were crucial in halting any potential scoring drives from the visiting team.
