Rutgers Scarlet Knights Edge Out Maryland Terrapins at Capital One Field in Football Showdown

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights displayed a balanced offensive attack against the Maryland Terrapins at Capital One Field. The away team's ground game proved to be particularly effective, amassing 235 yards over 49 attempts and contributing two touchdowns to their total score. The longest rush was an impressive 44-yard dash that found its way into the end zone. Through the air, Rutgers managed to add another touchdown from one of their twenty-two completions out of thirty-nine attempts for a total passing yardage of 144.


Defensively, Rutgers was relentless in pressuring Maryland's quarterback, resulting in seven sacks and twelve tackles for loss which contributed significantly to stifling their opponent's momentum. Their defensive efforts were further bolstered by intercepting two passes during critical moments of play.

Special teams also played a pivotal role in this tight contest; Rutgers successfully converted two field goals with the longest being from forty-two yards out. Their kicking game was consistent as well, with three extra points made following touchdowns and kickoffs totaling 205 yards.


The fourth quarter saw both teams fighting hard to secure victory but it was ultimately decided in overtime where Rutgers scored three points against none from Maryland, sealing their win.
