The Sam Houston Bearkats secured another victory, improving their season record to 5-1, after defeating the UTEP Miners 41-21. The Miners, struggling this season, fell to a 0-5 record. The game showcased the Bearkats' offensive and defensive capabilities, leading to their win at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso.

The Bearkats' offense was on full display with a total of 517 yards; 293 of those came from rushing and 224 from passing. Quarterback Hunter Watson had an impressive game with two touchdowns and completed 19 out of his 29 attempts for a total of 224 yards. Defensive Strengths


Sam Houston's defense played aggressively throughout the game, recording three sacks and forcing three turnovers against UTEP. Chris Murray led the defensive efforts with one forced fumble and contributed to both sack totals and tackles for loss metrics that stifled many Miner drives.


Jaylon Jimmerson made crucial plays in defense as well by intercepting one pass which halted potential scoring drives by UTEP. This interception was part of why Sam Houston maintained control over the game's tempo.
