In their last game on August 26, 2023, at Snapdragon Stadium itself, the Aztecs secured a hard-fought victory over Ohio Bobcats with a score of 20-13. The triumph was not just about the scoreboard but also about how they controlled various aspects of the game. With an average gain of 5.4 yards per play and total yardage of 318 against a formidable opponent, SDSU demonstrated offensive efficiency that could spell trouble for Idaho State Bengals.

The rushing attack was particularly effective as they averaged nearly 5 yards per carry over 31 attempts. Although they didn't find paydirt via the ground game that day, it's clear that their running backs can chew up yardage effectively. Coupled with an aerial assault that saw two touchdowns through receptions and an impressive completion percentage from their quarterback (64 percent), SDSU's offense is multifaceted and difficult to contain.

Defensively, SDSU showed up strong as well with three interceptions against Ohio Bobcats while allowing only one touchdown. This defensive solidity is something they will look to replicate against Idaho State Bengals.

However, it would be remiss not to mention some areas where improvement is needed based on past performances. In a previous matchup on December 25th last year against Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders where they narrowly lost by two points (23-25), turnovers were a significant issue for SDSU; five turnovers were committed which ultimately cost them dearly despite racking up more total yards than their opponents (364). Ball security will surely be emphasized in practice sessions leading up to this next game.

Furthermore, looking back at another home game on November 27th last year versus Air Force Falcons which ended in disappointment for SDSU with only three points scored compared to thirteen by Air Force; penalties played a big part in hindering progress – eight penalties costing them forty-nine yards needlessly gave away advantages.

With these lessons learned from past games combined with strengths observed – such as special teams' performance including successful field goals from challenging distances – there's reason for optimism among Aztec fans heading into this clash against Idaho State Bengals.

The scheduled date for this anticipated match-up is September 3rd at Snapdragon Stadium under lights slated for kickoff at 7:30 PM local time (10:30 PM ET). Fans unable or preferring not to attend can catch all action live on CBS Sports Network available via satellite channel number two hundred twenty-one.
