San Diego State Aztecs Secure Victory at San Diego County Credit Union Stadium in Football Game Against Wildcats

The San Diego State Aztecs and the Wildcats faced off in a defensive battle at the San Diego County Credit Union Stadium, with the home team emerging victorious. The season opener concluded with a score of 6-0, marking a solid start for the Aztecs with a record of 1-0, while the Wildcats fell to 0-1.

In front of an attendance of 40,222 fans, the game was characterized by strong defensive plays and limited scoring opportunities. The Aztecs' defense was particularly effective, recording one sack and six tackles for loss while holding their opponents scoreless throughout four quarters. A notable highlight was an interception by the Aztecs' defense that helped maintain their lead.


On offense, the San Diego State team had a total offensive output of 230 yards. The rushing attack contributed significantly with 130 yards on 43 attempts. Although no touchdowns were recorded on the ground or through air, it was field goals that made all difference for the home team. Red zone efficiency saw two successes out of three attempts which translated into sixty-seven percent effectiveness but without any touchdowns being scored from those opportunities. Third down conversions were achieved five times out twenty tries whereas fourth down saw one success from three attempts.
