Aztecs' Defensive Highlights


The San Diego State defense was notably active throughout the game, achieving a total of six sacks and five tackles for loss against their opponents. Trey White led this defensive effort with an impressive performance that included 2.5 sacks and two tackles for loss. Tano Letuli also made significant contributions with one sack and one tackle for loss, alongside an interception that he returned for 20 yards. These efforts underscored a determined defense that consistently pressured the Golden Bears' offense.


Offensive Struggles


On offense, the Aztecs faced difficulties in establishing their rhythm against a stout Golden Bears defense. Quarterback Javance Tupou’ata-Johnson completed only 44 percent of his passes for 156 yards but managed to connect on a notable touchdown pass covering 40 yards to wide receiver Jordan Napier. Napier emerged as a key offensive player with two receptions totaling 53 yards and scoring once. Running back Marquez Cooper also had moments of success on the ground, rushing for 87 yards across twenty-two carries.


Despite these individual performances, penalties proved costly for San Diego State as they accumulated fifteen penalties amounting to 120 penalty yards which hindered several drives and opportunities throughout the contest.
