San Diego State Aztecs Outmaneuver Wyoming Cowboys in a Close Encounter

In a closely contested match, the San Diego State Aztecs improved their season record to 3-3 with a narrow victory over the Wyoming Cowboys, who fell to 1-5. Aztec Defense Shines


The defensive unit of San Diego State played a pivotal role in securing this win. With six sacks and seven tackles for loss totaling 34 yards lost for the Cowboys, the defense consistently disrupted Wyoming's offensive rhythm. Trey White led this defensive onslaught with two sacks and three tackles for loss, contributing significantly to his team's pressure on Wyoming's quarterback. Additionally, Ryan Henderson added 1.5 sacks and one tackle for loss, further showcasing the depth of talent within the Aztec defense.


Kyle Moretti was another standout performer on defense with six tackles and one sack, demonstrating his all-around capabilities by also contributing two assists and one tackle for loss. The secondary was not left out of action either; Chris Johnson made an interception alongside Eric Butler who not only intercepted but returned it for a touchdown adding crucial points on the board.


Special Teams and Offense Contribute


On special teams, Gabriel Plascencia was perfect on field goal attempts hitting both tries from within 29 yards out which contributed six vital points to their total score. Tyler Pastula’s punting game was also noteworthy as he averaged over 47 yards across seven punts helping tilt field position in favor of San Diego State throughout the game.


Offensively, Danny O'Neil had an efficient outing throwing for 254 yards with a completion rate of nearly 59 percent including one touchdown pass that found Jordan Napier who ended up with four receptions totaling 91 yards making him O'Neil’s top target during this matchup. Marquez Cooper led in rushing efforts amassing 87 yards on twenty-five carries finding his way into endzone once which proved critical in maintaining balance in Aztec’s offensive game plan.
