San Jose State Spartans Set to Host Cal Poly Mustangs in CEFCU Stadium Football Matchup

As the San Jose State Spartans gear up to face the Cal Poly Mustangs at CEFCU Stadium, fans are cautiously optimistic about their team's chances. The Spartans have had a rocky start to their season, with a 1-4 record that doesn't quite capture the potential simmering beneath the surface.

In their last game on September 3rd, against Oregon State Beavers, SJS scored 17 points but fell short as they conceded 42. Despite this loss, there were glimmers of hope; notably, SJS's red zone efficiency was flawless with a conversion rate of 100 percent. Their defense managed to sack Oregon State's quarterback once and recorded three tackles for loss. However, turnovers and penalties proved costly.

The previous encounter on August 27th against USC Trojans saw SJS put up a valiant effort in an offensive showcase where they scored four touchdowns but ultimately succumbed with a score of 28-56. The rushing game was particularly strong that day as they averaged over seven yards per carry and secured one touchdown on the ground.

Looking back further into last year's performance provides additional insights into what might be expected from SJS this season. On December 20th, during their clash against Eastern Michigan Eagles at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho, SJS tallied an impressive total yardage of nearly five hundred yards despite losing by fourteen points (27-41). Their passing attack was formidable with three touchdowns through the air and an average gain per play standing at seven yards.

What stands out from these past performances is that while San Jose State has shown flashes of brilliance offensively – especially in terms of passing – consistency has been elusive.

Against Cal Poly Mustangs who are coming into this game without any notable recent performances to gauge them by – it will be crucial for SJS to capitalize on every opportunity and minimize mistakes if they want to secure victory before their home crowd.

The upcoming battle scheduled for September 9th promises excitement under the lights at CEFC Stadium starting at 8 PM local time (UTC). Fans can catch all the action live on NBCS-BA satellite channel number 696 or join fellow supporters in person for what could be a turning point in San Jose State Spartan’s season.
