The San Jose State Spartans, with a 7-5 record, faced the Fresno State Bulldogs who held a 10-4 record in a game that ended 10-17. The encounter took place at Bulldog Stadium at Jim Sweeney Field, where the Spartans were unable to outscore the home team.

The San Jose State Spartans put up a valiant effort against their opponents. The offense managed to accumulate a total of 334 yards throughout the game. The passing game was particularly active, with the quarterback throwing for 302 yards and achieving an impressive passer rating of 106. Despite completing only about 48 percent of their passes, they still managed to secure one touchdown through the air on a notable 32-yard completion.

On defense, San Jose State showcased their ability to disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage by recording three sacks and five tackles for loss. They also demonstrated ball-hawking skills with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries alongside an interception that was returned for 23 yards.

Special teams had mixed results; while punting was effective with an average net yardage of over 42 per punt and two punts landing inside the opponent's twenty-yard line, field goal kicking split down the middle with one made from within twenty-nine yards and one missed attempt.

Penalties seemed to be under control as they committed seven infractions resulting in seventy-five penalty yards assessed against them. This discipline may have played into keeping them competitive throughout four quarters despite not being able to convert on third down opportunities often enough – succeeding only three times out of fifteen attempts.

As for red zone efficiency, it could have been better as they converted just one out of three opportunities into points on board which came from within ten yards out. Their lone touchdown pass coupled with a successful extra point kick accounted for seven points while their field goal contributed another three points during second quarter action which saw them leading seven points over Bulldogs' ten before halftime break arrived.

The Fresno State Bulldogs secured seventeen points through consistent play across all four quarters including scoring in both second and third periods followed by adding another three points during final quarter sealing victory over visiting team.

Looking ahead, fans can catch San Jose State Spartans next as they travel to face New Mexico State Aggies at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces on October 22nd at around five PM local time. This upcoming contest will be available for viewing on FloSports network ensuring supporters won't miss any action from this anticipated game.
