Gerald J. Ford Stadium Hosts SMU Mustangs and TCU Horned Frogs in College Football Showdown

In a closely contested game at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, the Southern Methodist University Mustangs fell short against the TCU Horned Frogs with a final score of 34-42. The home team's season record now stands at 7-6, while the visitors improved to an impressive 13-2.

The SMU Mustangs displayed a robust offensive performance, accumulating a total of 476 yards over the course of the game. The passing attack was particularly potent, with the quarterback throwing for 372 yards and two touchdowns, despite being sacked three times. The longest pass completion was an impressive 45 yards, contributing to an average gain of 5.5 yards per play from a total of 86 plays.

On the ground, SMU managed to rush for 104 yards across 37 attempts with an average of nearly three yards per carry. Their rushing efforts resulted in three touchdowns, showcasing their ability to find success in both facets of their offense.

Special teams played without notable mishaps as punts averaged nearly fifty yards each over four attempts with one landing inside the twenty-yard line and two touchbacks occurring.

Defensively, SMU applied pressure on TCU's quarterback throughout the game by recording five sacks and seven tackles for loss which amounted to seventy-one negative yardage for TCU's offense. However, they were unable to force any interceptions or recover fumbles despite causing one fumble during play.

The efficiency within scoring range was impeccable for SMU as they capitalized on all their red zone opportunities – four out of four – turning every trip inside TCU's twenty-yard line into points on the scoreboard.

Despite these strong performances from various units within their team structure and maintaining possession time significantly longer than their opponents (nearly twenty-nine minutes), penalties were kept minimal with only three infractions costing them twenty-five yards throughout this intense contest.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought battle at home soil against formidable opposition from Texas Christian University Horned Frogs; fans can mark their calendars for another exciting encounter as Southern Methodist University Mustangs will face off against UCF Knights at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando on October fifth at six PM Eastern Time. This upcoming game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 satellite channel two hundred nine where supporters can tune in to cheer on their team once again.
