The SMU offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing a total of 375 yards with an average gain of six yards per play over 61 plays. The ground game was particularly effective, contributing significantly to this yardage with running back Brashard Smith leading the charge. Smith's performance was nothing short of spectacular as he rushed for 127 yards over 18 attempts, averaging seven yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns.
