First Quarter

The 'Canes took an early lead with a touchdown, putting them ahead 7-0 by the end of the first quarter. The Mustangs struggled to find their rhythm offensively and were unable to score during this period.

Second Quarter

In the second quarter, SMU began to find their footing. Kevin Jennings led a drive that resulted in a rushing touchdown by TJ Harden, leveling the score at 7-7. Meanwhile, Miami added a field goal before halftime, giving them a slight edge at 10-7.

Third Quarter

The third quarter was pivotal for SMU as they outscored Miami 10-7. A field goal by Sam Keltner and another rushing touchdown from Kevin Jennings put them ahead for the first time in the game. The defense also stepped up significantly during this period; Ahmaad Moses' two interceptions were crucial in halting Miami's progress.

Fourth Quarter

Both teams managed only field goals in a tense fourth quarter that ended with each team adding three points to their tally. This left both sides tied at 20 points each as regulation time expired.

Overtime

In overtime, it was once again Keltner who delivered under pressure with two successful field goals that sealed victory for SMU while keeping Miami scoreless during this critical phase of play.

Throughout this encounter, defensive efforts stood out prominently for SMU; players like Isaiah Nwokobia contributed significantly with ten combined tackles alongside Moses’ interceptions which proved decisive against 'Canes offensive drives—an aspect highlighted further through post-game analysis shared by fans online discussing key moments such as these within forums dedicated towards reviewing games like "SMU Mustangs vs Miami (FL) Hurricanes scoreline review."
