As the South Florida Bulls prepare to face off against the SMU Mustangs at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, fans are eager to see if the Bulls can carry forward their momentum from previous games into this upcoming challenge.

The Bulls' performance in their last game on September 26 at LaVell Edwards Stadium showed a team that was capable of holding possession for significant periods, clocking in at 35 minutes and 37 seconds. With an average gain of 5.1 yards per play and a total yardage of 367, they demonstrated both resilience and efficiency on offense. The rushing attack was particularly effective with an average of almost 4 yards per attempt over a hefty workload of 48 carries, resulting in three touchdowns.

However, despite these positives, turnovers and fumbles were issues that could not be overlooked; the Bulls turned over the ball once and lost one out of two fumbles. Penalties were relatively low with only four infractions costing them a mere 30 yards.

In contrast to their previous outing where they scored an impressive victory with 38 points against Florida A&M on September 18 at Raymond James Stadium, it's clear that consistency is something the team needs to work on. That game saw them amass over 400 total yards with an even more impressive rushing performance leading to four touchdowns on the ground.

The defense has shown some promise but also areas needing improvement; no sacks were recorded in their last game which might be concerning when facing SMU's potentially dynamic offense.

Looking ahead to October 2nd's matchup against SMU Mustangs, it is crucial for USF to tighten up their ball security and maintain discipline to minimize penalties. The offensive line will need to create opportunities for rushers as they did effectively in past games while also providing solid protection for passing plays – especially considering they managed a completion percentage of nearly 71 percent previously without throwing any interceptions.

USF fans should expect a hard-fought battle where every possession will count and special teams could play a pivotal role given past performances including perfect field goal attempts during crunch moments.

The scheduled date for this anticipated encounter is October 2nd at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas at precisely noon local time (8 PM UTC). Fans unable or unwilling to travel can catch all the action live on ESPNU satellite channel number two hundred eight.
