In an intense game at the JMA Wireless Dome, the Syracuse Orange displayed a resilient effort but ultimately fell short against the visiting Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. The home team managed to accumulate a total of 308 yards throughout the game, with their ground attack contributing 126 yards and two touchdowns. One rushing touchdown was particularly notable as it covered an impressive distance of 29 yards.

The Syracuse passing game saw them complete 27 passes for a total of 182 yards. Despite being sacked six times, they maintained an average completion percentage of over sixty percent and had nine first downs through the air. However, they were unable to secure any passing touchdowns during this encounter.

Special teams played their part as well; Syracuse successfully converted three field goals with their longest being from forty yards out. Their kicking unit also recorded four touchbacks on seven kickoffs.

Defensively, Syracuse forced two fumbles and recovered both while also intercepting one pass which they returned for fifteen yards. They registered one sack over the course of play and ten tackles for loss.

Penalties were minimal for both sides in this closely fought battle; however, neither team could capitalize significantly on these opportunities as evidenced by only four penalties committed by each side resulting in forty penalty yards assessed against Syracuse.

Despite controlling possession time with over thirty-three minutes on offense and running ninety-three plays compared to their opponents', it wasn't enough to secure victory on home turf for The Orange fans who numbered nearly thirty thousand in attendance that day.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought contest, The Orange will continue their campaign when they host Central Michigan Chippewas at JMA Wireless Dome on September sixteen at seven-thirty PM local time. Fans eager to support can tune into ESPN3 where this upcoming football game will be broadcasted live from Syracuse.
