In front of an attendance of 21,671 at Williams Stadium, the Syracuse Orange showcased a formidable defense that contributed significantly to their win. The defense recorded eight sacks and forced two fumbles, both of which were recovered by Syracuse. This defensive effort limited the Flames' ability to score and kept them off the scoreboard throughout the game.

On offense, Syracuse's ground game proved effective as they accumulated 192 rushing yards over 44 attempts. This included a notable longest rush of 42 yards that resulted in one of three rushing touchdowns for the team. Their running efforts averaged over four yards per carry and contributed eight first downs.

The passing game was less prolific but still efficient enough to support their running attack. The quarterback threw for 176 yards on seventeen completions out of thirty-five attempts despite being sacked twice and throwing two interceptions. However, these setbacks did not deter them from maintaining control over possession time with just over thirty-one minutes.

Special teams also played a role in this comprehensive team performance; notably, all punts by Syracuse were successful in keeping pressure on Liberty's offense with four landing inside the twenty-yard line and one resulting in a touchback.

Penalties could have been an area for concern as ten flags were thrown against Syracuse totaling eighty-eight penalty yards; however, this did not significantly impact their overall performance or outcome of the game.

As for field goals, there was perfection from Syracuse's kicker who made his only attempt from forty-five yards out contributing three points to his team’s total score.

Looking ahead after this strong start to their season, fans can anticipate seeing more from Syracuse as they prepare for their next challenge against Maryland Terrapins at SECU Stadium on September seventh at noon Eastern Time.
