The game was marked by significant contributions from both sides. The TCU Horned Frogs showcased their offensive capabilities, particularly in their rushing game which amassed 139 yards over 24 attempts and scored two touchdowns, one being an impressive 62-yard run. Their defense also made notable plays, including recovering two fumbles forced by their own players and returning an interception for a stunning 98-yard touchdown.

Despite these efforts, the Sooners managed to maintain a slight edge throughout most of the game. They opened strongly with 14 points in the first quarter while holding TCU scoreless. However, as the game progressed into the second quarter, momentum began to shift when TCU scored ten points to narrow down their deficit.

The third quarter saw both teams scoring seven points each; however, it was during this period that TCU's defense shone through with an interception returned for a touchdown that covered nearly the entire length of the field. This play not only demonstrated defensive acumen but also provided an essential boost to team morale.

TCU's special teams were consistent as well; they successfully completed all three extra-point kicks and secured one field goal from within 29 yards out. Punt returns were safely handled with two fair catches and no turnovers on special teams plays.

On offense, passing proved challenging for TCU as they completed just seven out of twenty-one attempts for a total of sixty-five yards and one interception thrown. Nevertheless, they found success within their red zone efficiency where they capitalized on all three opportunities presented to them.

As for penalties throughout this intense contest between conference rivals – discipline remained intact with only four penalties costing them twenty-five yards in total – reflecting focus under pressure despite high stakes.
