The third quarter saw another twist as Texas Tech continued their resurgence by scoring 12 points and holding TCU scoreless during that period. Heading into the final quarter, tension was high with both teams neck and neck; however, it was TCU who managed to clinch victory by scoring six more points compared to Texas Tech's three.

Defensively speaking, TCU showed resilience by making key stops when necessary including one interception that resulted in return yardage totaling fourteen yards along with forcing one fumble which they recovered themselves – demonstrating alertness and quick reflexes on defense.
