Neyland Stadium Showdown: Tennessee Volunteers vs Brigham Young Cougars

As the Tennessee Volunteers gear up to host the Brigham Young Cougars at Neyland Stadium, fans are looking for a sign of redemption after a disappointing start to the season. The upcoming game on September 7th is more than just another fixture; it's an opportunity for the Volunteers to right their ship and prove that their opening loss was an anomaly.

Tennessee Volunteers VS BYU Cougars

In their last outing on August 31st, TEN faced a surprising defeat at home against Georgia State Panthers with a score of 30-38. Despite racking up 368 total yards and maintaining possession for nearly half an hour, turnovers proved costly. The Vols committed three turnovers including two lost fumbles out of four, which undoubtedly shifted momentum in favor of Georgia State.

The rushing attack was less than stellar, averaging only 3 yards per carry with just one touchdown. On the receiving end, though they managed two touchdowns and had an average gain of nearly 12 yards per reception, it wasn't enough to secure victory. Special teams were solid with field goals being one silver lining as they made all three attempts.

Defensively there is room for improvement as well; while TEN did manage two sacks and forced one fumble against Georgia State, they allowed too many points on the board – something that will need tightening up against BYU.

On the other side of the field stands BYU who will be coming into Neyland Stadium looking to capitalize on any lingering doubts within TEN ranks. However, if history has taught us anything about Tennessee football – it's never to count them out especially when playing in front of their passionate home crowd.

The Vols have shown resilience before and have bounced back from setbacks stronger than ever. With this game being early in the season there’s plenty of time left for adjustments and improvements both offensively and defensively.

Looking ahead to September 7th at Neyland Stadium under Knoxville skies – fans can expect a determined Volunteer team ready to make amends in front of ESPN cameras starting at 7:00 PM local time (6:00 PM ET). This is where you'll witness whether TEN can harness that Volunteer spirit and translate it into a winning performance on home turf against Brigham Young Cougars.
