Texas Longhorns Narrowly Defeated at Jones AT&T Stadium by Texas Tech Red Raiders in Football Showdown

The Texas Longhorns, with a record of 8-5, faced off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, also holding an 8-5 record, in a closely contested game that ended with a score of 34-37. The encounter took place at the Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock and drew an attendance of over 60,000 fans.

The Longhorns' offense was able to accumulate a total of 428 yards throughout the game. The passing game contributed significantly to this figure with quarterback play resulting in 277 yards through the air and two touchdowns. The longest pass completed was for 39 yards which also resulted in a touchdown. On the ground, the Longhorns rushed for a total of 151 yards which included another impressive long run that broke free for a touchdown covering 40 yards.


Special teams played their part as well; field goal kickers were perfect on the day making both attempts from beyond forty-nine yards. In addition to this flawless kicking performance, all four extra point attempts following touchdowns were successful.

Despite these offensive efforts and maintaining possession for over twenty-four minutes during the game, turnovers proved costly for the Longhorns who lost one fumble and threw one interception. Penalties were kept relatively low with only five infractions costing them forty-one yards.


On defense, Texas showed resilience by recording two sacks and forcing two fumbles although they weren't able to secure any interceptions or recover any fumbles themselves. They did manage eight tackles for loss which helped contain some of Texas Tech's offensive drives.

The Red Raiders secured their victory through consistent scoring across all four quarters including overtime where they scored three points that ultimately decided the outcome of this tight contest.


Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars as The University of Texas will host West Virginia Mountaineers at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on October first at six-thirty PM Central Time.
