Texas Tech Red Raiders Edge Out Kansas Jayhawks at Jones AT&T Stadium in Football Showdown

The Texas Tech Red Raiders now stand at 3-6 after a close game against the Kansas Jayhawks, who are still seeking their first victory with a record of 0-9. The final score was a narrow 16-13, reflecting the competitive nature of the contest.

In front of an attendance of 9,877 at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas, the home team managed to secure a win despite committing seven penalties for a total loss of 80 yards. The Red Raiders' defense was formidable throughout the game, recording four sacks and forcing one fumble which they could not recover. However, their offense struggled with ball security as well, losing all three fumbles during the course of play.


The rushing attack was where Texas Tech shined brightest; they amassed an impressive 293 yards on the ground over 43 attempts. This included a standout long touchdown run that covered 70 yards and contributed significantly to their average gain per play being approximately six yards. Their passing game was less effective but still managed to contribute with an average completion yielding about five yards across fifteen completions from twenty-six attempts.

Special teams had mixed results for Texas Tech. While field goal kicking split even with three successful attempts out of six – including one from as far as 47 yards – it also saw three misses that could have extended their lead. Punting performance was solid with two punts averaging over fifty-three yards each and one landing inside the twenty-yard line.


The Kansas Jayhawks put up a resilient fight despite being unable to claim victory. Their scoring came from two field goals in the second and third quarters and finally crossing into the end zone in quarter four for seven points.
