In an impressive display of offensive versatility, the Texas Tech Red Raiders dominated the field against the Houston Cougars. The Red Raiders' quarterback was particularly effective, completing 17 out of 24 pass attempts and achieving a passer rating of nearly 166. His longest pass was a substantial gain of 50 yards, contributing to his total passing yardage of 231. Despite being sacked three times, he managed to connect for one touchdown through the air.

The ground game was equally potent for Texas Tech as they amassed an impressive total rushing yardage of 145 on just 28 carries. This included a remarkable dash to the end zone from 44 yards out—one of their three rushing touchdowns that day. Their average per carry stood strong at over five yards.

Defensively, Texas Tech made their presence felt by sacking Houston's quarterback four times and recording four interceptions—one returned for a touchdown—showcasing their ability to disrupt plays and capitalize on opportunities. The defense also held strong by limiting penalty yards to just under fifty across six infractions.

Special teams played their role efficiently as well; Texas Tech's kicker maintained perfect form by converting all extra point attempts and successfully making his only field goal attempt from within forty yards range.

As for the home team, despite putting up an initial fight leading in points after the first quarter (14-0), they were unable to maintain momentum throughout subsequent quarters where they were outscored (7-17) in Q3 alone before being shutout in Q4 (0-14). Their efforts were hampered by two used timeouts while managing only one remaining timeout towards game end.

Looking ahead after this decisive victory over Houston Cougars, fans can anticipate another exciting home game when Texas Tech Red Raiders host Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock on September 11th at around six PM local time. This upcoming event will be available for viewing on ESPN+.
