Red Raiders' Defensive and Special Teams Highlights


The defense and special teams played pivotal roles in securing this win for Texas Tech. The defensive unit was particularly effective, managing to sack the quarterback once for a loss of three yards while also recording an interception that halted an Arizona State drive. This interception was snagged by C.J. Baskerville, showcasing his defensive prowess by adding another turnover to his stats without allowing any return yards.


On special teams, Jack Burgess stood out with his punting performance. He punted five times for a total of 210 yards, managing to place one punt inside the 20-yard line which showcased his precision and control. His longest punt flew for 49 yards, contributing significantly to field position battles throughout the game.


Offensive Efforts Lead To Victory


Offensively, quarterback Behren Morton had an efficient game with 201 passing yards on a completion rate of approximately 55 percent. Morton threw two touchdown passes without any interceptions, demonstrating both accuracy and decision-making skills under pressure. His efforts were complemented by Tahj Brooks who led the rushing attack with 117 yards on 27 carries.


Josh Kelly emerged as Morton's favorite target catching ten passes for a total of 89 yards and scoring one touchdown. His ability to find space against Arizona State's defense was crucial in maintaining drives and ultimately scoring points.
