In an intense battle on their home turf, the Tulane Green Wave displayed a commendable effort despite coming up short against a formidable Houston Cougars side. The Green Wave's offense managed to accumulate a total of 308 yards throughout the game. The passing attack was responsible for two touchdowns and contributed 214 yards to their offensive output. Quarterback play was strong with an impressive completion rate of approximately 65 percent and a quarterback rating nearing 144.

The rushing component of Tulane's offense accounted for one touchdown, which included an electrifying longest run that spanned 39 yards straight into the end zone. However, ground gains were hard-fought as they averaged just under two and half yards per carry across their attempts.

Special teams had moments worth noting too; although no punts were blocked or returned for touchdowns, one punt did reach as far as 53 yards downfield. Kickoff duties resulted in two touchbacks from four attempts while kick returners managed to bring back kicks for an average of over thirteen yards per attempt.

Penalties played only a minor role in this contest for Tulane; they incurred six penalties totaling fifty-one penalty yards throughout four quarters of play.

On defense, sacks made by Tulane totaled two for sixteen lost yardage against Houston's offense. Despite these efforts to disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage and five tackles resulting in loss totaling twenty-four negative yardage on those plays alone, it wasn't enough to stifle Houston’s scoring drives consistently throughout each quarter.

As fans look ahead after this tough loss at home, they can mark their calendars for when the Tulane Green Wave will take on SMU Mustangs at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. This upcoming game is scheduled on October 21st and will be broadcasted live on ESPN network starting at approximately 6:30 PM local time (Central Time Zone). Fans can tune in then to support their team during this away game encounter.
