Tulane Green Wave Clashes with Houston Cougars at John O'Quinn Field in Football Showdown

The Tulane Green Wave, with a record of 3-6, faced off against the Houston Cougars, standing at 3-4, in a game that ended with a score of 31-49. The encounter took place at the John O'Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium and drew an attendance of 8,164 spectators.

The Tulane Green Wave's offense had moments of effectiveness but struggled to keep pace with the Cougars. The Green Wave managed to accumulate a total of 167 yards throughout the game. Their passing game saw them complete 11 out of 25 attempts for a total gain of 141 yards and one touchdown pass which was an eight-yard completion. On the ground, they rushed for a modest total of 70 yards on 45 attempts and scored one rushing touchdown.


Special teams played their part as well; Tulane's punting unit put up impressive numbers averaging over fifty-one yards across eight punts with their longest being sixty-three yards. They also made sure to convert all their extra-point kicks and successfully completed their only field goal attempt from thirty-nine yards out.


Defensively, Tulane managed to sack the opposing quarterback four times while recovering two fumbles; one was returned for an impressive sixty-four-yard touchdown. They also intercepted two passes from Houston's offense returning them for seventy-three yards combined.


Despite these efforts by Tulane players on both sides of the ball, penalties did have some impact on their performance as they incurred eight penalties totaling sixty-six penalty yards throughout the contest.


Looking ahead after this tough outing against Houston Cougars, fans can look forward to supporting the Tulane Green Wave in their next game scheduled against SMU Mustangs. This upcoming home game will be held at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans on October 16th at approximately five PM Central Time (CDT).
