Clash at Valley Children's Stadium: UNLV Rebels vs Fresno State Bulldogs in Football Showdown

As the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels gear up to face the Fresno State Bulldogs at Valley Children's Stadium, fans are cautiously optimistic. The UNLV Rebels have had a rocky start to their season, but there's more to these games than just the final scores.

In their last outing on September 19 at Allegiant Stadium, the Rebels faced a tough opponent in Iowa State Cyclones and were handed a heavy defeat with a score of 3-48. The statistics from that game paint a picture of struggle; with an average gain of only 2.7 yards per play and total offense amassing just 134 yards. The rushing attack was particularly stifled, averaging only 1.29 yards per carry across 31 attempts.

However, it wasn't all doom and gloom for UNLV. Their defense showed some resilience despite the lopsided scoreline, forcing one fumble and making one interception without conceding any turnovers themselves – signs that there is fight in this team yet.

Looking back further to September 12 against Arizona State Sun Devils, the Rebels managed to put up more points with a final score of 10-37 but still fell short. They improved their average gain slightly to 3 yards per play and had better control over possession time at approximately 25 minutes.

The most promising performance came on September 3 when they scored an impressive 33 points against Eastern Washington Eagles' formidable defense – although they narrowly lost by two points (33-35). That game showcased what the Rebels' offense can do when it clicks; they achieved an average gain of over five yards per play and racked up three touchdowns on the ground alone.

What does this mean for their upcoming clash? It suggests that while UNLV has struggled early on this season, they have shown glimpses of potential – especially in running plays where they've been able to find some success against tough defenses.

The Fresno State Bulldogs will be no easy task as hosts; however, if UNLV can harness some of that offensive spark seen against Eastern Washington and tighten up defensively as they did versus Iowa State (minus allowing so many points), then there could be an upset brewing at Valley Children's Stadium.

Fans should look for improvements in ball control from UNLV; maintaining possession will be crucial against Fresno State’s aggressive defense. Additionally, minimizing penalties which have plagued them previously will also be key factors if they want to secure victory away from home.

Rebels supporters should mark their calendars for September 25th when kickoff is scheduled for Friday night under lights at Valley Children's Stadium in Fresno CA starting at seven o'clock PM local time (PDT). For those who can't make it out west CBS Sports Network via satellite channel number two hundred twenty-one will broadcast all action live ensuring no one misses out on what promises potentially thrilling encounter between these two collegiate football teams!
