The University of Nevada, Las Vegas showcased resilience and tactical acumen throughout the game. The Rebels' offense was particularly notable for its efficiency in passing and rushing. With a completion percentage of 69 and three touchdowns through the air covering 291 yards, they demonstrated their ability to move the ball effectively against a tough defense. On the ground, they added two more touchdowns from their 24 attempts totaling 95 yards.

Defensively, UNLV made significant plays that kept them in contention throughout four quarters of action. They managed to intercept Kansas's passes three times and recorded one sack for two yards lost by Kansas's offense. Additionally, UNLV forced one fumble during play but did not recover any fumbles themselves.

Special teams also played an integral role for UNLV with punts averaging an impressive 53 yards over three attempts and placing two within the opponent's twenty-yard line – showcasing strategic field positioning that could have been pivotal under different circumstances.

Penalties were an area where both teams had room for improvement; however it was more acute for UNLV who incurred nine penalties costing them a substantial total of ninety-nine yards which may have impacted crucial moments within this closely-fought battle.

Despite these efforts by UNLV players across all fronts – offense, defense and special teams – it was ultimately not enough to secure victory on this occasion as Kansas maintained composure and capitalized on scoring opportunities when presented.
