In an eventful game at CEFCU Stadium, the UNLV Rebels struggled to find their rhythm against a formidable San Jose State Spartans defense. The home team's offense was relentless, putting up points consistently throughout each quarter with scores of 7-0 in the first quarter and widening their lead with an impressive 16-0 by halftime. The third quarter saw some resistance from the Rebels as they put up their only touchdown of the game but still trailed with a score of 10-7 for that period. The fourth quarter sealed their fate as they failed to add to their tally while conceding another seven points.

The UNLV offense had difficulty gaining ground against Spartan resistance. Their rushing attempts totaled just 52 yards over 27 carries, averaging less than two yards per carry without any touchdowns. Through the air, they fared slightly better; quarterback play yielded one touchdown and netted them an average passing yardage of over five per attempt.

Special teams also had moments worth noting; although none of their punts were blocked or returned for touchdowns, one did land inside the twenty-yard line out of seven attempts. In terms of discipline on both sides, penalties were kept relatively low with six infractions totaling fifty-five yards against UNLV.

Despite these challenges on offense and special teams, there were some defensive highlights for UNLV fans to take solace in – four sacks contributed to holding back Spartan advances along with five tackles for loss totaling thirty-five negative yards against SJS.

Looking ahead after this tough outing at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose where attendance numbered just under seventeen thousand fans – it's clear that focus will be needed as preparations begin for upcoming games.

The next challenge facing the University of Nevada Las Vegas football team will be hosting Air Force Falcons at Allegiant Stadium located in Las Vegas on October fifteenth at seven-thirty PM local time (Pacific Daylight Time). This encounter can be viewed live by fans on CBS Sports Network via satellite channel two hundred twenty-one ensuring supporters won't miss any action from what promises to be another exciting college football event.
