USC's defense also played a pivotal role in securing their win by applying consistent pressure on Louisville's offense. They recorded three sacks for seventeen yards lost and forced two fumbles, recovering both for an additional three yards gained on turnovers. Furthermore, they managed to hold off any scoring threats by defending one pass effectively.

Special teams contributed notably as well with one blocked punt adding to their defensive accomplishments. On returns, USC managed thirty-six punt return yards with their longest being twenty-three yards which set up advantageous field positions.

Despite not scoring on the ground, USC's rushing efforts were not entirely stifled; they accumulated seventy-one rushing yards across nineteen attempts with their longest run covering thirty-five yards.

In terms of efficiency within critical areas of play, USC converted sixty percent on third down and maintained perfect execution on fourth down conversions. Red zone efficiency stood at sixty percent over five attempts while goal-to-go situations saw fifty percent success from two opportunities.

While there were some minor setbacks such as one missed field goal attempt from within thirty-nine yards and three penalties costing them thirty-two penalty-yards overall – these did not significantly hinder their performance or outcome.
