Clash at the Rose Bowl: USC Trojans Outscore UCLA Bruins in High-Scoring Football Game

In a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the University of Southern California Trojans emerged victorious over the University of California, Los Angeles Bruins with a final score of 48-45. The Trojans now boast an impressive 11-3 record while the Bruins stand at 9-4.

The Rose Bowl in Pasadena witnessed an offensive showcase as both teams combined for a staggering total of 93 points. The USC Trojans' offense was relentless, amassing a total of 649 yards with an average gain of eight yards per play from their 81 plays. Their passing game was particularly effective; quarterback play led to a completion percentage of approximately 74 percent for a total passing yardage of 470 and two touchdowns, one being an impressive longest pass completion for 49 yards.


The ground game also contributed significantly to the Trojan's offensive juggernaut, accounting for four rushing touchdowns and achieving first downs on eleven occasions out of their thirty-eight attempts. The longest rush capped at nineteen yards while they averaged nearly five yards per carry.


Special teams had moments worth noting as well; two field goals were successfully made from beyond forty-nine yards out, though only half (50 percent) were successful overall from four attempts. Kickoff returns added another dimension to their play with three returns totaling forty-nine yards.


Defensively, the Trojans intercepted three passes during the game which they returned for sixteen yards and recorded one sack against UCLA's quarterback resulting in twelve lost yardage for the Bruins. They also forced two fumbles during this intense encounter.


Despite five penalties costing them forty-four penalty yards and losing possession time with just over thirty-five minutes on offense compared to UCLA’s share, USC managed to maintain control throughout most aspects of this high-scoring affair.
