The Vanderbilt Commodores, with a 2-1 record, hosted the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, standing at 1-1, in a game that ended decisively with a score of 47-13. The home team's victory was marked by an impressive offensive and defensive display at Nashville's FirstBank Stadium.

The Commodores' offense was firing on all cylinders as they amassed a total of 461 yards. The passing game contributed significantly to this tally with quarterback play yielding 246 yards through the air and three touchdowns. The efficiency of the passing attack was evident as they completed over half their attempts and maintained an average of nearly eight yards per attempt. On the ground, Vanderbilt proved just as formidable, rushing for 215 yards and matching their aerial effort with another trio of touchdowns.

Special teams also played a pivotal role for the Commodores; their kickers were perfect on the day, successfully converting all six extra-point attempts and making good on their sole field goal attempt from within 29 yards. Punt returns were another area where Vanderbilt excelled; six returns totaled an impressive 96 yards.

Defensively, Vanderbilt showcased their ability to disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage by accumulating two sacks for a loss of eighteen total yards and four tackles for loss totaling twenty-six negative yardage against Alabama A&M. Their defensive pressure resulted in two quarterback hits while also securing one interception returned for five additional yards.

The safety recorded by Vanderbilt's defense not only added points but also demonstrated their ability to contain opponents in critical areas of the field. Furthermore, special teams contributed defensively with two blocked kicks that helped maintain control throughout the game.

Alabama A&M struggled to keep pace with only thirteen points scored against a stout Commodore defense that limited them effectively throughout four quarters. Despite these challenges faced by Alabama A&M Bulldogs' offense could not find consistent success against Vanderbilt's defense or special teams units.

Looking ahead after this convincing win at home, fans can anticipate seeing more from the Commodores when they face off against Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winston-Salem on September 9th at 3:00 PM local time (UTC). This upcoming encounter will be broadcasted live on ACC Network via satellite channel number six hundred twelve for those who wish to follow along.
