Vanderbilt Commodores Fall to Ole Miss Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Football Showdown

In a week 9 game of the regular season, the Vanderbilt Commodores faced off against the Ole Miss Rebels at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The Commodores entered the game with a 2-7 record while the Rebels boasted a stronger 7-1. The final score reflected the tough day for Vanderbilt, ending at 7-33 in favor of Ole Miss.

Vanderbilt Commodores VS Ole Miss Rebels

The Vanderbilt Commodores struggled to find their rhythm against a formidable Ole Miss defense. The passing game was particularly stifled, with only eight completions on twenty attempts and two interceptions thrown by Vanderbilt quarterbacks. This resulted in a mere sixty passing yards and an average of just three yards per play over sixty-four plays. Despite these challenges, one bright spot for the Commodores was their punting unit which managed an average of fifty-two yards across four punts, including two that landed inside the twenty-yard line.

On defense, Vanderbilt managed to sack Ole Miss quarterbacks three times for a loss of thirty-eight yards and recorded seven tackles for loss totaling twenty-three negative yards against their opponents. They also forced one fumble during play but were unable to capitalize on this turnover opportunity.

The running game provided some relief as they amassed one hundred sixty-nine rushing yards over forty-four attempts, which included scoring their sole touchdown from two yards out. However, even with ten first downs achieved through rushing efforts and five red zone appearances, they could not overcome their difficulties in other aspects of offense.

Ole Miss controlled much of the game's tempo and capitalized on opportunities where Vanderbilt could not. With thirty-three points scored across all four quarters except for the third where Vanderbilt put up seven points themselves – it was clear that Ole Miss dominated this encounter.

Looking ahead after this challenging outing at Oxford city's Vaught-Hemingway Stadium before nearly sixty-three thousand fans in attendance; fans can look forward to watching their team take on Auburn Tigers next at FirstBank Stadium located in Nashville TN zip code 37240 scheduled for November 4th at 8 PM Eastern Time broadcasted on SEC Network via satellite channel six hundred eleven.
