Vanderbilt Commodores Secure Victory at FirstBank Stadium Against Hawai'i Warriors in Football Showdown

In a closely contested game, the Vanderbilt Commodores emerged victorious over the Hawai'i Warriors with a final score of 35-28. Both teams entered the game with identical records of 2-7, but it was the Commodores who improved their standing by securing another win.

The Vanderbilt Commodores showcased an impressive offensive performance at FirstBank Stadium, amassing a total of 297 yards. The passing attack was particularly effective, contributing 258 yards to the team's total yardage. The quarterback's precision was on display as he completed 19 out of 30 passes and threw for three touchdowns without any interceptions, achieving an outstanding passer rating of approximately 169. The longest pass completion spanned 41 yards, while one touchdown pass covered an impressive distance of 32 yards.


The rushing game added to the offensive mix with modest success. Although averaging only about two yards per carry for a total of 39 rushing yards on the day, they managed to cross into the end zone once on a notable 21-yard dash.


Special teams also played a pivotal role in this encounter. A kick returner electrified fans with a dazzling runback spanning nearly the length of the field for a touchdown – clocking in at an explosive distance of approximately 97 yards.


Defensively, Vanderbilt made its presence felt by applying consistent pressure on their opponents' offense throughout the game. They recorded three sacks and six tackles for loss while limiting Hawai'i's scoring opportunities significantly. Additionally, they forced one fumble and intercepted two passes from Hawai'i quarterbacks which contributed to keeping their opponents off balance.


On penalties front, both teams maintained discipline relatively well; however, it was noteworthy that Vanderbilt incurred eight penalties totaling around seventy-two penalty yards which could have been costly under different circumstances.
