At Nashville's FirstBank Stadium, the Vanderbilt Commodores struggled to find their footing against a dominant Tennessee Volunteers side. Despite playing on their home turf before an almost full house of 40,350 spectators, the Commodores were unable to score throughout the game. The offense made several attempts but failed to convert any of their two red zone opportunities into points.

The Commodores' passing game was modest with only 107 yards gained and an average of just over three yards per attempt. Their rushing efforts were slightly more effective with a total of 147 yards on the ground and an average carry of just over three yards. However, they could not capitalize on these gains as they saw four fumbles during the course of play and lost possession once.

Special teams had moments that shone through despite the overall outcome; notably, kick returns amassed 116 yards for Vanderbilt with one return stretching out to an impressive 42 yards. Punting was frequent due to stalled drives, totaling eight punts for a combined yardage of 337 and two landing inside the opposing team's twenty-yard line.

On defense, there were no sacks or interceptions recorded by Vanderbilt which allowed Tennessee ample opportunity to build momentum and score consistently across all four quarters: fourteen points in both first and fourth quarters sandwiching seven and twenty-one-point hauls in second and third respectively.

Penalties also played a role in hindering Vanderbilt's progress; six penalties resulted in sixty penalty yards assessed against them throughout this tough contest. This discipline issue coupled with only seventeen first downs compared to Tennessee’s relentless advance highlighted areas for improvement moving forward.

As fans look ahead after this difficult loss at FirstBank Stadium, they can tune into future broadcasts featuring the resilient spirit of The Commodores as they seek redemption in upcoming games.
