In an American football game that saw the Virginia Cavaliers striving to secure their first win of the season at SECU Stadium in College Park, they fell short against a dominant Maryland Terrapins side. The Cavaliers' offense managed to accumulate 354 total yards throughout the game. Their passing attack contributed significantly with quarterback throwing for 263 yards and achieving an average of over six yards per attempt. Despite three interceptions marring their aerial efforts, one pass did find its way into the end zone for a touchdown from within red zone range.

On the ground, Virginia's rushing attempts yielded 91 yards and included an impressive longest run of just over ten yards which also resulted in their only rushing touchdown. However, they struggled on third-down conversions despite having thirteen opportunities; they succeeded seven times representing just above fifty percent efficiency.

The special teams had mixed results; while kickoffs covered an average distance falling short of sixty-five yards per attempt without any reaching beyond twenty-yard line or resulting in touchbacks. Punters were kept busy as well but managed two punts inside twenty-yard line out of four attempts.

Defensively speaking, Virginia's performance was highlighted by forcing one fumble and achieving one sack that set back Maryland by sixteen yards – showcasing some resistance against what was otherwise a challenging day for them defensively.

Maryland's offense proved too much for Virginia as they put up forty-two points on scoreboard including scoring twenty-one points in fourth quarter alone which sealed their victory convincingly. Their defense also played a pivotal role by limiting Virginia’s scoring opportunities and creating turnovers that shifted momentum firmly in favor of home team.

Fans looking ahead will see that next up for University of Virginia is another tough contest as they prepare to host North Carolina State Wolfpack at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville on September 22nd at 7:30 PM local time (EST). This upcoming game will be broadcasted live on ESPN network allowing fans across nation to tune into action from comfort of their homes or wherever else they may find themselves eager to support their team.
